May 4th - 8th

Every time we save water, we protect rivers, ponds, and green spaces that wildlife depends on.

Protect Water for Wildlife is this year’s Water Saving Week campaign theme.

This isn’t just about saving water. It’s about understanding the direct connection between the water we use every day and the health of the natural world around us. Whether at home, at work, or in hospitality settings, your actions help protect rivers, lakes, and the wildlife that depends on them.

This year, we’ve teamed up with The Rivers Trust and WildFish, through The Living Rivers Project, to share incredible stories from our waterways throughout the week.

Get involved

Your Water Saving Week 2026 resources are now ready to download, with everything you need to take part. Download your free resource pack below to guide you through the week, including:

  • A full introduction to the campaign
  • 20 simple water-saving pledges to pick from
  • 5 daily themed activities with videos, insights, and actions
  • Practical ways to engage your team or household
  • Tips to keep the momentum going beyond the week

We’ve structured Water Saving Week into 5 daily themes to make taking action simple, focused, and achievable. Rather than overwhelming you with everything at once, each day builds your understanding step by step, helping you connect your everyday water use to the natural world, and take meaningful action along the way.

5 days, 5 themes

Day 1 – Monday 4th May: Water is wild, act like it
Discover how your everyday water use connects directly to rivers, lakes, and wildlife and why small actions matter more than you think.

Day 2 – Tuesday 5th May: Small changes. Wild impact.
Meet the wildlife your water-saving actions help protect, and see how even small changes can support thriving ecosystems.

Day 3 – Wednesday 6th May: Stop leaks, save habitats
Learn how hidden leaks waste huge amounts of water, and how fixing them protects rivers, ponds, and wetlands.

Day 4 – Thursday 7th May: Cool water, save wildlife
Explore how saving hot water reduces pressure on both energy systems and fragile freshwater environments.

Day 5 – Friday 8th May: A wilder future
Celebrate your impact and look ahead, how we can all play a role in creating a water-wise, nature-rich future.
