Recognition for Water Efficiency Excellence
The Waterwise Checkmark is an award for organisations that are demonstrating commitment to excellence and continued improvement in water efficiency within their building/s. The award recognises that a particular building – from offices to community centres – has put in place a variety of measures to encourage water-efficient behaviours and reduce water waste, from internal awareness campaigns to water-efficient devices and fittings.

The Waterwise Checkmark
As the leading authority on water efficiency in the UK, Waterwise runs the Waterwise Checkmark award scheme to help empower a wide range of organisations to play their part and take action on using water wisely, for people and the planet.
If you’re an organisation aiming to lead by example, achieving the Waterwise Checkmark enables you to showcase your dedication to using water wisely in your building/s – reducing environmental impact, and aligning with wider sustainability goals. It also provides you with the opportunity to receive positive public relations, both internally and externally as well as illustrating environmental credentials and as part of CSR reporting.

Water resources in the UK are under increasing pressure from climate change, population growth (and subsequent increases in demand), as well as the urgent need to protect the environment.
Collective action is needed across society in the UK to reduce the pressure being placed on our water resources by using water wisely, including organisations and communities who are key enablers of change. The UK Water Efficiency Strategy to 2030 has 10 objectives, many of which cover areas of water-saving also covered by the Waterwise Checkmark. Meanwhile, in England specifically, there is a national target for water use by businesses to be reduced by 9% by 2038.
Simple water-saving measures can reduce water use by as much as 30% to 67% (based on data from the Thames Water Smarter Business Visit Programme). The Waterwise Checkmark helps you demonstrate your commitment to implementing these measures while contributing to a broader movement of sustainable water management across various sectors.
The application process for the Waterwise Checkmark is straightforward. Simply fill out the enquiry form below and our team will get back to you with more information on how to apply and take it from there. The standard cost to apply for one building is £560+VAT, however we have various discounts available. Once your application is reviewed, then if approved, you will receive the Waterwise Checkmark logo, a certificate, and a trophy (if applicable). This recognition can be used on marketing and communications materials linked to buildings that have been awarded the Waterwise Checkmark to showcase your achievement and commitment.
