Waterwise teamed up with the Home Builders Federation to create a practical guide for new build homeowners on how to make the most of the water-saving features in new build homes. This collaboration launched as part of New Homes Week.

New build homes are designed with efficiency in mind – equipped with water-saving taps, toilets, and showers, using around 40 litres less each day according to research from the Home Builders Federation. This translates to an average annual saving of £126 on water bills. However, while these homes come with built-in advantages, small everyday actions can amplify these benefits.
Our guide below, How to save water in your new home, walks residents through simple yet effective changes in key areas like the bathroom, kitchen, and garden. Whether it’s shortening showers, using dishwashers efficiently, or harvesting rainwater, these small actions add up to big savings – for both homeowners and the environment.
With growing pressures on water resources due to climate change and population growth, it’s more important than ever to be water-wise. Through this partnership, we’re helping ensure that new homeowners can reduce their water footprint while keeping their bills low.
