Smart Metering & the Climate Emergency: A Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Water Use

About the project

In 2021, Waterwise partnered with leading experts, utilities, and key stakeholders to explore the intersection of smart metering technology and climate change. This collaborative project, Smart Metering and the Climate Emergency, aimed to assess how advanced water metering can support the urgent need for water conservation and climate resilience.

Why is it important?

As climate change intensifies the pressures on water resources, smart meters are emerging as a pivotal tool in managing water use, enabling households and businesses to make more informed, sustainable choices. Our collective efforts in this project aimed to better understand the role of smart metering in helping to mitigate the impacts of the climate emergency, and how its implementation can drive positive change at both the individual and systemic level.
