Thursday 23 October 2025 · 5pm – 10pm
Sign up for Water Night and pledge to take part!
Imagine waking up one morning and the taps run dry. No shower. No cup of tea. No flush of the toilet. Life stalls in an instant, because as our CEO Nicci Russell said in her recent TEDx talk: “Nothing happens without water.”
And yet, most of us barely notice our everyday water habits – leaving the tap running while brushing our teeth, rinsing dishes under a steady stream, or overfilling the kettle.
Water Night is your chance to stop, notice, and reconnect.
Like Earth Hour, it’s a symbolic event: one evening, one powerful action, endless impact. From 5pm to 10pm on Thursday 23 October, households across the UK will turn off non-essential taps to reflect on just how much we rely on running water every single day. Sign up now and pledge to take part in Water Night!
This year’s theme – From Habit to Hero – is about turning unconscious routines into intentional, water-wise actions that protect our most precious resource.
Across the country, iconic landmarks will light up in blue to show national support, uniting us in a shared call to action.
Get involved!
It’s simple:
1 – Pledge to take part – Sign up here and pledge to turn off your taps from 5–10pm on Thursday the 23rd of October. Everyone who signs up will have the chance to enter into our prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher! (T&Cs apply) (prize draw link in sign up email).

For Schools: Wear something blue day
Young people’s knowledge of water is worryingly low, with many unaware of the need to use it wisely during times of drought.
That’s why schools across the country are invited to join Wear Something Blue Day on Thursday 23 October. Students wear an item of blue clothing to show their support. Parents and carers (18+) are encouraged to sign up their households for Water Night – so families can take action together.
Teachers can also access ready-to-use classroom resources and take-home activities from the resources section.

Leaksafe – the clue is in the name…
So, if as well as saving water through careful use, like turning the tap off when cleaning your teeth, or shorter showers – you could save hundreds of litres by being alerted to hidden leaks in your house – that would be a good thing?
Leaksafe leak detection systems can do just that. Install our WaterSwitch3 or WaterTAPP APP based system on your incoming main. They will alert you to things like leaking toilets, or tanks that constantly fill, as well as leaking pipework or bursts and immediately turn the water off to stop damage and wasted water.

Waterguard – Supporting households to take action
We’re delighted to have Waterguard supporting Water Night 2025. Their smart leak detection and automatic shut-off systems help households understand their water use and prevent unnecessary waste, making it easier to take meaningful action at home.
The Waterguard Home System aligns perfectly with Water Night’s From Habit to Hero theme, helping households track water usage in real-time, detect leaks early, and make small, practical changes that save water, reduce bills, and protect homes. By highlighting solutions like this, Water Night encourages reflection and turns awareness into meaningful, everyday action.
