This campaign has concluded but feel free to take a nosy at all the impact we made together.
Water Night is a national moment of pause, inviting households across the UK to stop, notice, and reconnect with water.
m
Held on annually in October, Water Night encouraged people to turn off non-essential taps from 5pm to 10pm and reflect on just how much we rely on running water every day. Inspired by symbolic events like Earth Hour, Water Night showed that one small, shared action can spark big conversations.
n
The 2025 theme, From Habit to Hero, focused on turning everyday, unconscious routines into intentional, water-wise actions that protect our most precious resource. From switching off taps to questioning hidden water use, the campaign encouraged people to look inward and rethink their relationship with water.
n
Across the country, households took part and iconic landmarks lit up blue, creating a visible show of national support.
For schools
As part of Water Night, schools across the UK were invited to take part in Wear Something Blue Day, helping young people explore why water matters and how small actions can make a difference. By linking classroom learning with action at home, the campaign brought families and communities together around water awareness.

Leaksafe – the clue is in the name…
So, if as well as saving water through careful use, like turning the tap off when cleaning your teeth, or shorter showers – you could save hundreds of litres by being alerted to hidden leaks in your house – that would be a good thing?
Leaksafe leak detection systems can do just that. Install our WaterSwitch3 or WaterTAPP APP based system on your incoming main. They will alert you to things like leaking toilets, or tanks that constantly fill, as well as leaking pipework or bursts and immediately turn the water off to stop damage and wasted water.

Waterguard – Supporting households to take action
We’re delighted to have Waterguard supporting Water Night 2025. Their smart leak detection and automatic shut-off systems help households understand their water use and prevent unnecessary waste, making it easier to take meaningful action at home.
The Waterguard Home System aligns perfectly with Water Night’s From Habit to Hero theme, helping households track water usage in real-time, detect leaks early, and make small, practical changes that save water, reduce bills, and protect homes. By highlighting solutions like this, Water Night encourages reflection and turns awareness into meaningful, everyday action.
