Waterwise, the UK’s leading authority on water efficiency, is proud to announce the launch of its new campaign, the Leaky Loo Challenge, kicking off on 6th January 2025. This campaign, supported by Fluidmaster as the headline sponsor, is set to tackle one of the most overlooked culprits of water wastage: leaking toilets.
Leaky loos can waste between 200 and 400 litres of water every single day. The Leaky Loo Challenge highlights this issue and empowers households and businesses across the UK to take simple steps to detect and fix leaks. By signing up and taking the test, participants can identify leaks, save water, lower their bills, and help protect the environment.
The campaign is always on, meaning it has no end date. Waterwise’s goal is to consistently encourage people through this social campaign to check their loos for leaks, ensuring a long-term impact on water conservation efforts.
Chloe McFarland, Campaigns Manager at Waterwise, said: “Leaky loos are an invisible drain on our precious water resources. Through the Leaky Loo Challenge, we’re making it easy for everyone to take action. With Fluidmaster’s support, we’re excited to drive awareness, inspire behaviour change and make a real impact on water conservation in the UK.”
Fluidmaster a global leader in toilet solutions and water management, bring their expertise and innovative products to the campaign, helping participants take the next step to fix detected leaks. Their Easy Fit Ultra Syphon is just one example of a simple, effective solution to this widespread issue.
Chris Mynette, Engineering and Development Manager at Fluidmaster said: “As a company committed to sustainable water management, partnering with Waterwise on the Leaky Loo Challenge was a natural fit. Together, we can equip people with the tools and knowledge they need to combat water waste, one leaky loo at a time.”
The Leaky Loo Challenge also incorporates a survey to track the campaign’s impact, gathering valuable data on the number of leaks detected and fixed across the UK. This feedback will shape future efforts to reduce water wastage and protect this vital resource.
Waterwise invites everyone to join the challenge by visiting www.waterwise.org.uk/leaky-loo-challenge/ to sign up, test their loo, and spread the word. Together, we can save millions of litres of water, one flush at a time.
